Our School- "Escola Secundária / 3 Alexandre Herculano"

This is the school where I teach. Its name is "Escola Secundária / 3 Alexandre Herculano".

It is situated in the east part of the city of Porto. The school provides basic, general, vocational and ( in the evening) adult education.

In the picture you can see its imponent façade. The School is an old but very beautiful building.

During the schoolyear 2006 / 2007 'Escola Secundária / 3 Alexandre Herculano' celebrated its 100th anniversary with different cultural events.

The façade of Livraria Lello

Not far from 'Torre dos Clérigos' Livraria Lello ( Lello Bookstore) is one of the most beautiful bookstores I have ever seen.
You can buy any kind of books there or only to pay a visit.
A visit to its interior is worth.
There you sit and read or simply relax. Even more than that you can taste a glass of one of the the so famous Port Wine.
This is Castelo de Guimarães. It is situated in Guimarães, my hometown.

Once a week I go to my hometown to visit my parents.
Guimarães is the place where Portugal was born. the first King of Portugal founded there the "Condado Portucalense" .
Guimarães is still nowadays a very beautiful and well preserved town.

Porto exlibris - Torre dos Clérigos

This is Torre dos Clérigos, the ex libris of the city of Porto. It was a project of Nicolau Nasoni. it was built between the years 1731 - 1763. At that time it was the tallest building in Portugal.

I have already gone upstairs till the top of the Tower. From up there you can see the city and river Douro.

The beginning is sometimes difficult...

Hi,

Yes, this is me. Have you rung me up?
Who am I?
Well, I'm Maria da Graça. I'm married to Fernando and we've got two daughters. Their names are Joana and Berta.
We live in Porto ( but my hometown is Guimarães).
I teach English at a secondary school in Porto and it's the first time I am creating and writing a blog.
My family, my friends and my job are my priorities. I do also like travelling.
